Christmas – A Discourse about
an Unwelcomed God ………..
One more Christmas season is at hand
and the market is full of enthusiasm and is running behind the offers. Lights
are on, decorations are available and we are ready to make this Christmas a
memorable one. But we forget the central character of this great celebration
and we leave everything into the hands of market, media and money. They decide
what to buy, what to see, what to talk, what to think, how to worship, who all
are to be invited etc.
The nexus between money, media, market
and power deliberately ignore (sincere ignorance) Christ as they know that God
revealed in Christ cannot be controlled or domesticated (so they simply ignore
the Christ). In a way they boycotted Christ and claimed they know how to
celebrate Christmas without Christ. Unfortunately, we the BODY OF CHRIST also
ignore, boycott (knowingly or unknowingly) forget Christ and we follow the
footpaths of the modern rulers (money, media, market and power).
Let us welcome an unwelcomed and
forgotten God into our imaginations and deliberations
Divine Incarnation Christmas is all about Divine
Incarnation and it talks about God’s journey to the earth to liberate and
restore the life of the whole inhabited earth. God descended from heaven so
that justice, peace and love return to the relationship and to the life on the
earth.
Divine Intervention Christmas tells the story of God’s
deliberate decision to intervene in the life of the cosmic history in a
particular historical time. This divine intervention meant to make an end to
the rule of the emperors of this world and to affirm God’s ownership into the
life of this earth.
God’s Reign Announced Christmas proclaims God’s reign so
that God’s Will be done on the earth. In God’s reign, lost will be found,
oppressed will be liberated, chains of satanic forces will be crushed, ‘shalom’
will replace the war, cries of the hungry and afflicted will be heard,
neglected will become the corner stones, marginalised will be restored, naked
will be clothed…(this is endless). God will sit at the throne of grace and
God’s gaze will be upon the righteous.
Divine Communication Christmas communicates the story about
a God who talks, walks, ask for human help, sleep in street, heal the sick,
console the broken hearted, dine with sinners, telling stories, and ready to be
hurt….. On the other hand this divine communication exposed the human
sinfulness and questioned the unjust rulers and hierarchies and redeemed people
from their yolks. And they tried their level best to silence this Divine
Communication and failed. Divine Communication still continues……
Let us join hands in telling the
stories of this unwelcomed Christ…….
